Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.
Edgar Allan Poe
What happens when dreams turn bad?
Falling. Stuck in slow motion. Unable to make a sound. Entrapment. Drowning. Rejection. Tsunami. Graveyards. Crying babies. Breathlessness. Vehicle crashing. Running late. Chasing. Earth moving. Endless falling. Seeing non-existent. Not existing. Warnings. Death as a presence. Unwanted visitors Sweat and pain. Unfeeling. Hallucinations. Absurd. Diseases.
The beauty of bad dreams lies in human subconscious. How deep do we need to explore in order to discover the true reasons of dreams becoming unpleasant? The immediacy of the shock after experiencing an unexpected dream evolves into paranoia, frightened and confused states of mind that affects our thinking and being. Can sounds and visuals exemplify such affect in an artistic way?
The sounds were chosen in order to reveal the deepness and lowness of the emotional frequencies experienced whilst dreaming the unwanted. Through the cacophony of unexpected frequencies and frightening tones, a few sonic truths get revealed. Do we, as humans, encourage our thoughts to frighten us?
The visual part, executed by Gintare Minelgaite, questions the idea of human hypochondria: even though life expectancy is longer than ever, man has never been more paranoid. The visual representation focuses on the shapes found in deep tissue scans. Be aware everyone, here's some news:
